Ahora que damos más importancia al momento presente y consciente; ahora que hemos constatado que se puede vivir más despacio, tranquilos y despiertos, se nos ha quedado muy grande, muy acelerado el coche. Ahora buscamos otra suerte de brillo más real y menos ficticio, un lustre que no se limite a la chapa. Sabemos que ya no necesitamos de potentes y ostentosos automóviles. Ahora sabemos que lo pequeño, lento y cercano puede ser más hermoso y por lo tanto no hace falta que sigamos pisando a tope el acelerador.

Ahora que estamos revisando el viejo mundo, ahora que estamos pariendo una nueva civilización más verde y solidaria es preciso cuestionar el automóvil, por lo menos tal como lo conocíamos hasta el presente. La industria del automóvil se quiere colocar al comienzo de la cola para recibir subvenciones del Estado y salir de la actual crisis, pero el coche nuevo, aún más potente y veloz, está hoy a la cola de nuestras más perentorias necesidades.

El coche representa la médula de una civilización que hemos dejar atrás. El coche que se renueva cada dos por tres significa la esencia de los valores que de ninguna forma nos pueden acompañar en el futuro: individualismo, consumismo, escaparate, materialismo… Si queremos un futuro sostenible para nosotros/as y las generaciones que ya están gateando, un mañana sin amenaza climática, sin pandemias generadas por la destrucción de la Madre Naturaleza y el consiguiente aumento de las enfermedades infecciosas, tendremos que aprender a pedalear, a hacer más uso del transporte público, a hacer más asequible el coche eléctrico.

El vecino va ahora sólo dos días a trabajar hasta la Wolkswagen en Pamplona. Lo decimos con toda la consideración por las familias que dependen de este emporio. Wolkswagen no debe ser necesariamente el tan mentado motor de la economía navarra, Wolkswagen representa mucho de nuestra resistencia para crear un mundo nuevo, para reciclarnos, para hacer de nuestras vidas algo más propio, creativo y emancipador. Wolkswagen, Mercedes, Toyota… pueden ser un enganche de seguridad, gigantescas naves en las que se refugia nuestro pan, pero también nuestros miedos unidos, los temores a iniciar un nuevo tiempo, una nueva forma de relacionarnos entre nosotros y con cuanto nos rodea. No necesitamos un coche nuevo cada ocho años, necesitamos levantarnos cada mañana sabiendo que podemos hacer algo pequeño, pero realmente hermoso y provechoso para el mundo, algo imbuido de cariño, de nuestra impronta y don particular, algo que no cargue la personalidad de orgullo, el aire de veneno y las piernas de pereza.

Las silentes avenidas saben de nuestros desvariados juegos de juventud. Entonces era preciso levantar el puño bien alto y bien cerrado a lo largo de interminables asfaltos. Otrora competíamos por radicalidad en nuestros postulados revolucionarios. Con el tiempo hemos constatado que la radicalidad digna de ser abrazada es la adherida a valores universales, no a ideologías particulares; es la que cuestiona un modelo global sin mañana; la firmeza a la que sumarnos es áquella que con compasión y amabilidad defiende la Madre Tierra y por lo tanto un futuro sostenible para la humanidad. La verdadera radicalidad que a nuestra edad merece la pena exhibir es aquella que nos cuestiona íntimamente en la psicología frágil, insustancial, perecedera de lo aparente, de lo sin recorrido.


La llave de un nuevo coche en nuestro bolsillo puede causar efímero gozo, pero a la larga no será difícil comprobar que representa otro obstáculo más para abandonar la cárcel del aparentar y el “tener” y dar los primeros pasos en la ya vital, impostergable y urgente aventura del “ser”.»
